Choose a great photograph to be Engraved.
So you know you want to have a Photograph Engraving made. That’s great! Photographs
are a great blend of past, present, and future. They are artistic but there is
also some science behind the scenes.
Choose a great photograph.
If it is already in digital format–most are these days–make sure there is enough
image information to make a Photograph.
It’s not possible to make a 5 inch by 7 inch Photograph
from a 25K thumbnail image. (Rule 1: No thumbnails) How much do you need to get
a good Photograph?
We need a minimum of about 750 pixels on the short side of an image to make a 5
by 7 inch Photograph.
Larger is better. We can always make a large photo smaller but we can’t make a small
photo larger. This is especially important to keep in mind when you want the
final Photograph
to represent only a smaller section of the overall photo. Also, we cannot make
an already out of focus image sharper.
Make sure the features you want in the photograph are in focus and fill an
appropriate portion of the photograph. We will edit digital pictures in order to
produce the most attractive result. If you would like to have certain features
removed from your photo then we can edit out cars, trees, and people that you
don’t want in your Photograph.
Sometimes we get the best photographs in a candid moment and candid moments can
include “noise” in the background. If you have the perfect photo except there is
a tree growing out of someone’s head, then that photograph can be edited. Simply
include such requests in the customization notes section of your
order.
Remember,
you can send us your photograph and we’ll give you feedback before we make your
custom Photograph.
If you’re not sure about a photograph that you really want us to produce, then
send it to us and we’ll chat about it.
